一、课程的性质和目标
大学英语教育是高等教育的一个有机组成部分，对于促进大学生知识、能力和综合素质的协调发展具有重要意义。大学英语课程是大学生的一门公共必修基础课程。《大学英语3》是以英语语言知识与应用技能、学习策略和跨文化交际为主要内容，以外语教学理论为指导，并集多种教学模式和教学手段为一体的教学体系。其教学目标是培养学生的英语应用能力，增强跨文化交际意识和交际能力，同时发展自主学习能力，提高综合文化素养，使他们在学习、生活、社会交往和未来工作中能够有效地使用英语，满足国家、社会、学校和个人发展的需要。
我校艺术、体育类学生在完成《大学英语3》阶段的学习之后，开始学会并适应独立学习，逐步减少对教师的依赖程度。到《大学英语3》学习结束时，学生在读、写、译等方面应能够达到略低于大学英语三级水平。
二、课程教学内容
《大学英语3》以英语语言知识、使用技能、跨文化交际以及学习策略为主要内容。语言知识部分包括语法知识、词汇积累与扩展、常用构词法、常用句型等；应用技能部分包括听说技能，读写技能、翻译与写作能力；文化部分包括课文文化背景知识、中西方文化差异等，培养学生运用、体验、欣赏英语和英美文化的能力；学习策略方面，注重学生英语学习方法和策略的培养，通过提高英语自主学习能力来达到熟练运用英语的目的。

四、课程基本要求
《大学英语3》是大学英语教学的第二阶段，是大学英语课程教学的主要环节。根据《大学英语教学指南》及我校艺术、体育类学生的实际情况，其英语水平和能力应低于《教学指南》中的一般要求，通过本课程的学习，能够在大学一年级英语的基础上有较大提高，学生应该达到下列要求：
1、听力理解能力：能听得懂教师英语授课，能听懂一般日常英语谈话和公告，能听懂难度与课文相同的听力材料且题材熟悉、基本上没有生词、语速为120词每分钟的听力材料，能抓住其中心大意，抓住要点和相关细节，能运用听力技巧帮助理解。
2、口语表达能力：能用英语就一般性话题进行比较流利的会话；能较好地表达个人已近、情感、观点等。语言组织结构比较清晰，语音、语调基本正确。能较好地运用口头表达与交流技巧。
3、阅读理解能力：能在阅读中使用有效的阅读方法，能基本读懂一般性题材的英文文章，能读懂工作、生活中常见的应用文体的材料，理解中心大意、关键信息、文章的篇章结构和隐含意义等，能较好地运用阅读策略，阅读速度一般为每分钟65-70词，快速阅读为每分钟85-90词。
4、书面表达能力：能用英语就一般性的主题表达个人观点；能撰写所学专业论文的英文摘要和英语小论文；能描述各种图表；能用英语对未来所从事工作或岗位职能、业务、产品等进行简要的书面介绍，能用英语完成一般性写作任务，能在半个小时内就一般话题写出120词左右的短文，语言表达内容完整，观点明确，条理清楚，语句通顺。能较好地运用常用的书面表达与交流技巧。
5、翻译能力：能摘译题材熟悉，以及与所学专业或未来所从事工作岗位相关，语言难度一般的文献资料；能借助词典翻译体裁较为正式，题材熟悉的文章。理解正确，译文基本达意，语言表达清晰。译速为英译汉每小时220词，汉译英每小时200词。能运用较常用的翻译技巧。
6、推荐词汇量：掌握的词汇量应达到3000个单词和600个词组（含中学应掌握的词汇），其中800-1000个单词为积极词汇，即要求学生能够在认知的基础上学会熟练运用，包括口头和书面表达两个方面。
五、本课程与其它有关课程的关系
《大学英语3》是一门必修基础课，是在《大学英语1》和《大学英语2》的基础上进一步深入学习。它与其它的英语课程学习有着紧密地联系。其主要教材为《新起点大学英语综合教程3》。
1、《新起点大学英语综合教程3》每个单元由同一题材的2篇文章组成。课文A为精读材料，配有阅读理解、词汇、结构、翻译、听力等多种练习；课文B为泛读材料。该教程把精读、泛读融为一体，使听、说、读、写、译五种技能的训练和培养围绕着精读课文进行，重点培养听、读、译的语言能力。
2、综合教程采用了视、听、说相结合的方法，充分利用现代化教学手段，旨在全面提高学生的听说能力。
3、《新起点大学英语综合教程3》和《21世纪大学英语听说教程（S版）3》分工不同且各有侧重点，相辅相成，以实现大纲规定的大学英语教学的目的，即：“培养学生具有较强的阅读能力，一定的听、说、写、译能力，使他们能以英语为工具交流信息。”
4、网络自主学习内容为《21世纪大学英语听说教程（S版）3》，采用双达标标准：16小时，300分。即，学生必须达到16小时且学习分数达到300分视为完成课程学习要求，可获得1学分。语言技能实践（包括英语阅读技巧、课堂语言实践、四、六级应试技巧）通过学习策略讲座及随堂训练相结合的方式指导学生的英语学习方法和策略，旨在提升学生的英语应用能力，为大学英语四、六级考试做准备。

八、成绩考核方式
本课程考试采用期末笔试和平时成绩相结合的手段。期末考试形式为笔试，成绩总分为100分，题型以大学英语四、六级考试题型为参考，内容涵盖基础知识和能力的测试，期末卷面成绩60%，平时成绩40%，包括（课堂表现、作业、背诵、口语测试，每一项占平时成绩的25%），总结如下表所示：
